Settled in 1795, and incorporated in 1833, the name Cornplanter was derived from a prominent Seneca Indian Chief, born about 1750 and died in 1836. Cornplanter Township is located in the Northeastern region of Venango County and consists of 41.80 sq. miles or approximately 24,192 acres. Cornplanter Township has an approximate population of 2,418 according to the 2010 Census.
